SHYC Publishes the 2020-2021 Annual Report – 50th Anniversary Special Edition

A special thanks to the staff, volunteers and community for their steadfast commitment to the SHYC. It has sustained us for 50 years! Thank you to our donors who believe in our mission. Your support has made it possible to provide essential services to Shaker youth as well as to maintain an excellent staff. Our programming has provided invaluable opportunities for new beginnings for the multitude of youth we have interacted with over the last 50 years.

It is our sincere hope that we have served you well. SHYC has demonstrated that it has the strength and resiliency to maneuver through this pandemic and continue its services. Although we could not celebrate this milestone in-person, we still want to thank you for supporting the work we do.

For half a century, the Shaker Heights Youth Center (SHYC) has distinguished itself as a leader in the field of community social service by fostering the emotional, behavioral, and developmental well being of a diverse spectrum of youth in the Shaker community. The Youth Center is dedicated to nurturing youth through their adolescent years. The support we receive from you makes our efforts possible.

Charter Relaunches Free 60-Day Spectrum Internet & WiFi Offer to Help Connect New Households With K-12 and College Students or Educators

Shaker Heights, OH – Charter Communications, Inc. today announced a relaunch of its Remote Education Offer providing free Spectrum Internet – with speeds up to 200 Mbps in most markets – and WiFi access for 60 days to households with K-12th graders, college students and/or educators. The promotion is available for customers who live in a Spectrum market and do not currently have Spectrum Internet services. To enroll, new customers can call 844-310-1198 and a free self-installation kit will be provided.

In addition to the Remote Education Offer, Charter is making high-speed broadband more accessible through Spectrum Internet Assist (SIA), its high-speed, low cost broadband program available to eligible low-income households and seniors. SIA includes a free internet modem, high-speed data at 30 Mbps, no data caps or contracts, and optional in-home WiFi service for an additional $5/mo. SIA is available to households in which one or more members are a recipient of assistance through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the NSLP, or Supplemental Security Income (for applicants age 65+). Charter will offer two-free months of Spectrum Internet Assist (SIA) to eligible low-income households with students or an educator not already a Spectrum customer.

Shaker Heights Youth Center Publishes 2018-2019 Annual Report

Shaker Heights, OH – The Shaker Heights Youth Center, a critical provider of provide a wider range of services to address the changing needs of adolescents and their families, has published its 2018-2019 Annual Report.

The 2018-2019 Annual Report highlights the Youth Center’s success stories and programs that include growth amid unexpected economic, political, and social developments and challenges that have required rapid adjustments. The Report features departments’ statistics, and, as always, emphasizes the impact of programs. These collaborative efforts ensure stability and growth within the communities the Youth Center serves.
