The Youth Center supports the IMPACT YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAM at First
Unitarian Church. IMPACT Youth Enrichment Program, (formerly known as Open Doors
After School Enrichment Program), provides a safe, nurturing afterschool environment
that promotes academic, emotional, and social growth among middle school students.
IMPACT is designed to help students successfully navigate through the middle school
years. Since 2001, IMPACT has been opened doors to unlimited opportunities and l
earning adventures for over 300 Shaker students and their families. Students are able
to spend crucial out-of-school time in a safe and fun place while receiving academic
support, mentoring, and essential life skills. The program is conveniently housed at the
First Unitarian Church (within walking distance of the Middle School), and runs Monday
through Thursday from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. throughout the school year. We are able to
support up to 25 students through compassionate paid and volunteer staff. United by a
true strategic alliance, program funding is made possible through Shaker Heights Youth
Center, First Unitarian Church, public and private foundations, and generous individuals.
